anger Wrath

Wrath is extreme anger. It is that moment where you are consumed by anger, hurt or pain that you do not think twice before acting. Your blood pressure rises, your muscles clinch up and you turn into the hulk! It is the highest level of fury a human can possess. However, it is important to know that anger is not the sin, even Jesus got angry, acting out in anger is the sin. When Jesus entered the temple in the book of Matthew chapter 21, he was angry. Jesus flipped over chairs and tables because he was upset at the people who turned God’s house of prayer into a den of thieves. Was Jesus wrong for being angry? Did Jesus sin when he flipped over the chairs and tables to express his anger? Of course not. Jesus lived a sinless life and was perfection.

A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back. –Proverbs 29:11

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth [Romans 1:18]. The problem with acting in anger is that the truth does not live in you. Wrath is like a blindfold covering your eyes and keeping you from living in truth. You say things you don’t mean and do things you’ll regret later on. Actions of wrath are not godly and when you practice wrath you are only helping Satan along with his mission. In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil [Ephesians 4:26].

Let’s be clear Believers, there is a wrath that people can display but God’s wrath is like none other. The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. Since it takes God a long, long, long time to become angry when He reaches anger, life will never be the same. God’s wrath can turn a 40 day hike into a 40 year journey. God’s wrath can send fire from the Heavens to burn down cities, send rains so heavy the entire earth is submerged underwater and send people into the lake of fire for all eternity. Fear no man but God because He is the one who will have the final say over your soul. Although, God’s wrath is deadly, His children live with his abundant Grace and Mercy. Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell [Matthew 10:18].

Remember and do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day you came out of the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord. –Deuteronomy 9:7

The beauty of being a child of God is that you do not have to seek revenge. When someone betrays you, hurts you or makes you angry, give it to God. Do not worry yourself thinking of ways to retaliate or consume your mind with plotting evil schemes, rather let Go and let God. When wrath takes over and causes you to sin, you become just as guilty as the person who caused you extreme anger. Do not let the emotions of anger cause you to stumble. The truth is, there is nothing you could do that would cause greater damage than what God can do. Believers, The Lord fights your battles and wages war against those who have harmed you. Your only mission is to trust in God, remain faithful and be in control of your actions.

If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell” –Matthew 5:29

Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. -Romans 12:17-21
