Last Night, The U.S attacked Syria. According to CNN.com, “The United States fired 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at Syria overnight in response to what it believes was a chemical weapons attack that killed more than 100 people.” After watching the speech of Donald Trump, I can’t help but see past the public relations team who created this biased speech and dressed him with his patriotic pin to show Americans how ‘American’ he really is. In Trump’s speech he used the words “barbaric attack, cruelly murder or no child of God should ever suffer” and for some reason it just didn’t sit right with me. Needless to say, I am thankful for my marketing and public relations class during my undergrad that has allowed me to see the tricks and techniques the media uses to play on it’s audience.
Trump ended his speech with “As long as America stands for justice than peace and harmony will prevail.” I find it hard to believe, the U.S launching missiles, killing innocent people and going to war will bring peace and harmony. Violence begets more violence. The U.S claims that these strikes were launched because of a chemical weapons attack and it’s aim was at a military airfield in the western province f Homs.
My friends, do you see what is going on in this world? Missiles, bombs, attacks, murder, WAR! Governments from all nations are choosing these solutions for it’s people when in reality, they are the problem. We live in a world controlled by money, power and greed. During these difficult times and news headlines, I want to share the truth of God’s word with the following scriptures:
- For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. – Ephesians 6:12
Governments can wage war, take over land and control the lives of millions, but they will never have power or control over your soul and eternal salvation. The true problems are not of flesh and blood, it is against spiritual forces of evil. Those who seek to murder, plot wrong doing and attack innocent people are only following commands from The enemy. These people who chose to do evil rather than good, serve the God of this world. But, we must remember the God that is in control over all the universe, galaxy, planets and life including this world. The earth may be Satan’s playground but God created the playground.
- Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. – Matthew 10:28
In these hard times of blood shed and suffering, let us remember the truth about our bodies and soul. Regardless of our environment and the things going on around us, fear does not have to live in us. He who is in us, is stronger than he who is in the world [1 John 4:4]! Do not be afraid by the news or media. They are meant to manipulate the minds of viewers, but if we have ears to hear and eyes to see, than the truth shall set us free [Matthew 13:16]. Do not fear mere humans, fear The Mighty Hand of The Lord who has the power to wipe mankind off the face of the earth. God is the only one to fear and He will never leave you nor forsake you. Wherever you are, whether in America or Syria, God is with you.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you [Deuteronomy 31:6].
Don’t want to try to say something against your Godly view of peace and all (as the Lord clearly taught peace). I’m one of those white, mid-western, Christian-conservatives, you’ve probably heard of us. Anyhow, I hope and pray that nobody was killed that was innocent. Remember this, God used war in the Old Testament against Canaanites who lived to their gods in ecstasy. They were violent, sexually immoral, and they heated their bronze gods to near molten, as they sacrificed their children by placing them in the gods arms. God finally wiped them out.
The US Civil-war ended something as bad as slavery that was centuries old. The Second World War finally defeated Hitlers attempt to annihilate the Jews from the face of the earth and conquest. I’m not sure of your level of interest or study pertaining to the players involved in the Syrian Civil War such as ISIS, and Bashar Al Assad. They are pretty bad, Hitler bad really….
I’m not trying to change your mind or dissuade you from your hunger for peace. It is important, I think, to be wise, discerning and prayerful in forming our opinions of such matters.
