The Power of Honesty

Honest Prayer

Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways – Proverbs 28:6

It is better to be truthful with ourselves and those around us than lie, just as it as better to pray honestly wit God than hold back your thoughts and feelings. A rich man with a lying heart will not be happier than a poor man with a honest heart, despite what we may see on the outside.

When we keep things bottled inside, eventually it will explode. When we do not speak our true feelings, it can create bitterness, resentment or anger within us. We must always acknowledge how we feel, and address our concerns because when we do not we are only prolonging the outcome and possibly lead to making it worse. There are no secrets from God and whatever is done in the dark will come to the light.

Today’s challenge is to pray 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes at night, the focus in these prayers is honesty*. Tell God about your fears, worries or secrets. Open up and allow him to work in your heart. Let him know the areas in your life you are unhappy with or would like improvement in. Developing an open and honest relationship is the start to a long lasting, and loving relationship. Allow yourself to speak freely, without distraction and give yourself entirely to God. By knowing that God is the only one that can change our situations, is the best part of this prayer. God will work in your life, ask and you shall receive, there is no limit to what God can do! Honesty is the best policy.
