But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen – 2 Peter 3:18

As we grow in life and learn new things, we have to be aware that others may not be growing with us. “You’ve changed and I don’t even know who you are anymore.” Hearing these words struct me to the core and I found myself torn between who I used to be and who I have become. Yes, I am not the same person I used to be but isn’t that a good thing? So, why did she make it seem as though it were bad? When I took a step back from the situation, it dawned on me, the reason why her words hurt was because it was how she felt on the inside. The problem wasn’t that I grew rather, it was that she had not.

People are not used to change. They live in their comfort zones and throw shade at anyone who tries to step out. When we grow in our faith and get closer to God, not only do we change internally but our external worlds changes as well. We become different because our desires change and if we are not careful who we surround ourselves with, others will try and make us feel bad for our growth.

Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. – James 3:18

God did’t create us to be stagnant. He created us to live freely, to grow and be fruitful. When others are not watering or harvesting their seeds they will shame those who are. Let us not be bothered with those who chose to remain the same and continue growing mentally, spiritually and physically. One day, you will eat the fruit of your labor and blessings and prosperity will be yours[Psalm 128:2]. So, let them talk about how you’ve changed and give glory to God that you have!
