LAKERS LEGEND GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN (RIP KOBE BRYANT)

On January 26, 2020, the internet shocked the world by sharing the news of a helicopter crashed in Calabasas, C.A killing 9 people; Kobe Bryant and his 13 year old daughter Gianna, among them. The news spread like wild fire as media outlets like TMZ covered the scene play by play, in real time. The tragedy was uploaded and posted on the world wide web, before loved ones could even be contacted. Could you imagine finding out your spouse or child died, simply by turning on your TV or scrolling through instagram?

In an era where social media has become reality, I can’t help but think what this world has come too. Death is all around us and no one knows when their time will come. However, we do know that death is inevitable and everyone is born with an expiration date. The death of a Legend has left many people with heavy hearts. Basketball fans around the world are mourning. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted [Matthew 5:4]. These are the moments that need to keep us connected with one another, letting our loved ones know how much they are loved. No one knows why things happen or when things will happen. The only thing we know for certain is that God is in control of all things.

During times like this, it can feel as though God is no where to be found. But, His word reminds us that The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit [Psalm 34:18]. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [Psalms 147:3]. Let us pray for Kobe Bryant’s family and those families who lost their loved ones in this tragedy. May God give them peace and comfort through their grieving process and kept their strength as they face the harsh reminders through social media outlets. His legacy will continue for generations and generations. RIP KOBE
