You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord [Psalm 139:4]. God not only created the entire Universe from scratch, dividing oceans from clouds and mountains from land but He also created mankind in his image. His omnipresent abilities allows him to bend time, seeing into the future. In fact, God is time. His kingdom is eternal. He knows what is going to happen before it happens.
In the book of Genesis, we read about several events regarding the descendants of Abraham that showed God’s ability to see into the future. When Jospeh was brought to Pharaoh to interpret a dream, God revealed a secret into the future. God allowed Joseph to understand the meaning of the dream and was sent as a warning for all of the people. The land of Egypt would be prosperous for the next 7 years and will be in a severe famine for the next 7 years after. God warned Jospeh about this event nearly 15 years before it was going to take place! Due to Joseph’s obedience, he was able to save thousands of people from dying of starvation by storing up food during the years of prosperity.
Fear is a trick of the enemy that can seep into the unconscious mind, bringing anxious or fearful thoughts. These ungodly thoughts follow us throughout the day and can lead into tomorrow. Such thoughts of trouble eventually become a heavy burden to the Spirit. So, how can you break free from such thoughts or feelings? How was Jospeh able to overcome 7 years of a famine that spread throughout the world? He was obedient and trusted God.
The great F.B Meyer once said “He is our tomorrows. All the tomorrows of our life must pass through him before the can get to us”. There is nothing that can happen to God’s creations, without God’s consent. As we step into a new day bringing old thoughts, let us refresh our souls and renew our minds on God’s word.
Could you imagine if Joseph allowed his fear to control him, instead of preparing for what is to come? Jospeh could have ran away, hidden in a cave or told Pharaoh a different interpretation. Yet, Jospeh was honorable and knew that he was not created with a spirit of fear. There was no time to waste on worry or anxiety. He had to start and move forward into his tomorrows with complete faith. Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? [Matthew 6: 25-27].
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Leave the troubles of yesterday behind because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
