I arrived at the airport with my luggage, excited to return home. I did have a wonderful time with family and friends, but there is nothing like sleeping in your own bed. After about ten minutes waiting on line, it was my turn to print my boarding pass and check in my suitcase. The look on the agent’s face told me something was not right. He explained that my returning flight was scheduled for yesterday. Although, I was at the airport on time, I was there on the wrong day. I was completely shocked! I could not believe that I missed my flight and for some strange reason assumed the wrong date for my departure. Needless to say, I will definitely double check my reservations for future trips and use this experience as a lesson learned.
The moment I found out that I had missed my flight, anxiety flooded my mind. When I was told it would cost $500 to book a ticket the next day, I began to panic! After a few minutes, the manager came to assist the agent and they were both very helpful. In that moment, I wanted to react with anger and hostility, but the peace of God covered me. I knew that it was my fault and that lashing out would get me no where. Eventually, everything worked out. I would be staying an extra 4 days in Orlando, F.L but I’ll be saving over $400! Thank the Lord for patience and humility! Leaving the service desk, I could not help but think, what was the purpose for this situation?
Have you ever been in a situation and wondered why God allowed this to happen? The heartache, anxiety or stress would not exist if God did not let this event take place. So why would God want to bring sorrow if He has the power to change it? We go through dark times so that we can learn and be prepared for the good times. What Satan uses for bad, God uses for Good. What if Jesus felt the same way? He would rather skip the pain, beatings and being nailed to the cross? We would not have salvation and would die never made right with The Lord. In the moment, you may want for things to go according to your plans but you must trust that God’s plans are better.
Throughout the day, I kept reminding myself Everything Happens For a Reason. There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens. A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build. A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace [Ecclesiastes 3:1-8].
If it was not for the word of God, I would have dwelled on the cancellation of my flight, the money spent or the time wasted. Instead, I was able to defeat negative thoughts with positivity because God’s word is love and light. His word is alive and active. His word is truth and the sword to defeat the enemy’s attacks. Believers, I encourage you to remember that things happen for a reason and although we do not know why, we know that God has a plan and a purpose. What is meant to be will be and God’s time is the right time all the time. Stand firm in your faith and know that God is working in your life for the greater good even in bad times.
