This post is dedicated to my mother.
The woman who sacrificed her youth to raise a child while she was still a child. The woman who risked everything, including family and security, to raise me. The woman, whom despite the opinions of others, allowed the love for her child to conquer all. At the age of 14, life could have been much easier with one simple choice. Instead, you chose to follow your heart and allow God to fulfill his plan and purpose. From shelters to park benches, God has turned struggles into blessings and this is only the beginning!
A woman of noble character who is worth far more than rubies, your hard work has molded me to strive for the best and never settle for less. You taught me to be independent and not expect ‘handouts’ from anyone. Your willingness to help those in need, giving without seeking to receive, reminds me that a generous person will always prosper and whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. You taught me how to fish instead of bringing the fish to me, a valuable tool necessary in life. You are the definition of courage, never afraid to voice your opinion and never allowing others to determine your worth. Regardless of who is in the room, your character remains the same. Loving but stern, graceful and loyal, you are the woman I hope to become.
I love you as my mother and admire you as my role model. You are my best-friend. My rock. My support system and my mediator. I am forever grateful that God brought clarity to us both and allowed our relationship to form into what it has become today. A relationship formed in love, humility and trust. God knows that life could not have turned out any other way and we are exactly where we are supposed to be. Distance makes us stronger and faith brings hope for the future. God is faithful and his promises will come to pass. My prayers are always with you and I know that God has plans of prosperity and happiness for your life, my life and our bond.
Not only are you a strong, independent and beautiful woman inside and out, but you are my motivation to succeed. I would be nothing without you and I owe you my life (literally lol). As a teenager, I was rebellious, selfish and naive. I believed the world revolved around me and allowed my temper to get the best of me at times. I thank you for never giving up on me and even through the darkest of times, I could always count on you. The troubled times of the past have allowed me to appreciate the good times of the present.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Through good times and rough times, your love has never changed. A mother’s love for her daughter is unbreakable, undeniable and unconditional. You have showed me the true definition of love with discipline and grace. I pray that this day bring peace and joy. May The Lord bless you in abundance.
I Love you Mom and I promise to make you proud!
P.S
We will celebrate Mother’s Day when I come in a few days 😉
