“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” -Psalm 23:4
Scary situations bring fear. Walking through a dark alley late at night or being home alone and hearing noises, these moments fill us with fear. But, what if we weren’t alone? What if you were wrapped in a protective bubble and nothing could penetrate through it? would you still be fearful? Probably not. You would walk through the dark alley with a smile on your face and comfort in your heart knowing that you are untouchable. This is how we should aways feel. God didn’t create you with a Spirit of fear but of power, love and self-control [2 Timothy 1:7]. He created you to be fearless, trusting in Him and living with His comfort. Whenever we find ourselves without comfort, it is because we forgot who God is and how He created us to be.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 10:28-30
Stress, worries and anxieties can become a heavy load for us to carry. When we carry the burdens of life’s stress it weighs us down. We begin to feel overwhelmed, depressed or alone. The truth is, we do not need to carry burdens alone. Instead, we should cast all our anxiety on Him because he cares for us. When we choose to Let Go and Let God, we experience a level of peace and comfort that only God provides. God is comfort and He can bring peace into our lives, but only if we allow Him. The stresses of life may be too heavy for us to carry but it is nothing for God. In fact, He wants us to come to Him and ask for His help. Just as a parent is eager to help their child in need so too does God enjoy releasing us from worldly stresses.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort.”
