Parable of The Hidden Treasure and The Pearl
“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. When He discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!” –Matthew 12:44-45
Could you imagine coming across a discovery that is so magnificent, so extraordinary, so life changing that you would sell everything you owned just to have it? This parable reminds us how valuable The Kingdom of Heaven is and what we have to look forward to when we leave this world. During our daily activities and human interactions, we must always keep the Kingdom of Heaven in the back of our mind. Focusing on God’s Kingdom reminds us that this world is only temporary and we have something great awaiting us.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.- Matthew 6:33
Focusing on the Kingdom that awaits us, brings peace in a time of chaos or confusion. Despite all the changes that unfold throughout this life time, one thing that will never change, is the Kingdom of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth [Colossians 3:2]. The beauty of focusing on things above rather than things of this world is that whatever we are caught up worrying, stressing or thinking about will work itself out. The Lord knows our heart, thoughts and ways. When our hear, mind and soul is seeking The Lord, He will reveal himself in mighty ways. Trust in God and you will never be lead astray.
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” -Matthew 22:37
