Discernment [dih-surn-muh-nt]: the faculty of discerning; discrimination;acuteness of judgement and understanding.
This is a quality one must posses in order to walk closely with God. We have to be aware of the people in our lives that are doing good and those that are harmful. Although, God sends people our way to deliver His message, sometimes the message may not come from him. The truth is, we live in a world of Good and evil, and some people don’t have good intentions. There are people who are miserable, and instead of lifting their Spirits and asking God for help, they live a life to bring others down. Misery loves company. God is here to help us but Satan is not. God’s plan for us is to live in peace, harmony and love. Satan’s plan is to steal, kill and destroy any and everything that crosses his path.
We need to pray for discernment, so that God may help us decipher between people that are good and bad. Satan’s people come disguised and capture our heart by their friendliness and like-ability. However, their only objection is to wreak havoc in our world by causing chaos and confusion. We need to see past first impressions and pretty smiles, to uncover their soul within. When we begin to see people for their Spirits, we grow closer to God by recognizing who he has intended us to cross paths with. When we recognize someone not of The Spirit we can learn to separate and distant ourselves, because that person will not bring any joy into our lives.

Today is dedicated to discernment. When we step out into this world, be alert. God speaks to us through people, so it is important for us to know who is of The Spirit and who is not. We should not entertain those that speak from mere flesh, because the root of their desires are sinful. We should only trust those of The Spirit because the root of their desires is righteousness. Just as God will place people in your life to help guide or motivate you, So will Satan. The devil will put people in your life to distract you and keep you from reaching your fullest potential.
The bible says that the best way to know who is of The Spirit and who is not, is to pay attention to how they live and what they speak. “But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means” [1 Corinthians 2:14]. I have learned discernment amongst people by simply asking whether or not they accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior. If someone denies Christ, than I automatically know that this person could never speak in The Spirit, because in order to know God you must know His son. Jesus said it himself, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” [John 14:6]. Throughout the day, keep in mind today’s word. Apply it to your life and allow God to take your faith to new levels by introducing you to new people and being aware of people you need to let go.
