Question: Christians argue evolution by asking why there aren’t any half-ape half-men walking around today, right? Why don’t we see giants, fiery talking serpents, talking donkeys and many other mythical creatures that are described in the Bible?
“In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times” – Genesis 6:4
The answer to this question is simply, we no longer live in those times. Just as in the old testament people followed the laws of Moses, but when Jesus came, He changed the game. Now, we live under the covenant of Christ and are saved by the grace of God. Nephilim, who are biblical giants such as Goliath (from the story of David and Goliath) were heroes and famous warriors. Their rare strength and power came from their parents. In those times, fallen angels walked the earth. These fallen angels had intercourse with human women, thus producing these giants (explained in the above verse). When God seen all the wickedness that came from this and the actions of Humans, He hated it. “The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. So The Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on earth. It broke his heart. And the Lord said, ‘I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth [Genesis 6:5-7] Then the story of Noah took place, and God flooded the earth, making sure to never allow the same events to occur that led up to such wickedness.
In the old testament, God revealed himself in ways that He no longer does today. In Numbers 22:28 “Then the LORD opened the donkey’s mouth, and it said to Balaam, ‘What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?’ or in Exodus 3:2 “There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up” God spoke to them in different ways. The serpent on the other hand was Satan whose only goal was to make humans give in to temptation and separate them from God [Genesis 3:1].
Since, Christ paid the debt for the sins of the world, The Lord no longer needs to speak to us in such creative and unbelievable ways because Jesus is our intercessor. We have the privilege and power of prayer. If Jesus never died for our sins, we would still be killing and sacrificing animals to repent for our sins. I don’t know about you, but I am glad I live in this era of time!
