Hit The Pause Button

The past couple of days have been extremely stressful for me. After getting into a car accident, purchasing a new vehicle only to find out it was a total loss car to going through the dispute with the FRAUD dealership to get my money back; I am mentally, physically and emotionally drained. Even though I had a gut feeling this dealership was no good because I was in a rush to purchase a car, I did not listen to my intuition. Yesterday, I found myself feeling the same way, rushed! I realized I was in such a hurry because I was focused more on getting to work and school than trusting in The Lord to guide me and being patient.

Purchasing a vehicle is a big deal. It is not something that you should do over night or buy on impulse (please learn from my mistake!). As I drove from dealership to dealership, I grew more inpatient. All the cars started to look a like and I became more annoyed with each car salesman. Despite the car salesmen in the six different dealerships I visited tell me it is impossible to find a car I want within my budget, I refuse to believe what they say is true. But, by the end of the day at the last dealership I was completely shut down and just to get everything over with, sign papers and settle for any car. But before I began the paperwork the word ‘pause’ came into my mind. When the salesman left to make a copy, I picked up my phone, went to the bible app and the first verse I saw was Romans 8:25.

But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

The moment I read this verse, a calmness fell over my body. I needed to hit the pause button, take a deep breath and be patient. There is no need for me to rush this process because there is no need to rush at all. Instead of feeling drained from driving to different dealerships and speaking to several salesman, I could rejoice knowing that I am weighing all my options and learning more about cars, finance options and lease agreements. Thinking back on yesterday, I learned a lot!

Although I have not seen the car I want that is within my price range, I will continue to hope for what I do not see and wait patiently knowing that God will provide! I pray that you hit the pause button on life when you start to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, annoyed or angry. By hitting the pause button, you allow yourself a moment to breathe deep and view the situation from a different perspective. Even in negative situations, there is something good. So, hit the pause button, relax and focus on the good! #SmileWithFaith
