“Do not judge, and you will not be not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven” – Luke 6:37
We must view forgiveness through God’s eyes and not our own eyes. Forgiving is not an option, it is something we must do in order for our faith to reach new levels. God has made this commandments for all to know, follow and accept. We Forgive others as we would want to be forgiven. In the bible, God’s word is clear and straight forward. We forgive others so that God can forgive us. If we do not forgive others than God will not forgive us. Forgiveness is black and white. There is no grey area. If you chose to forgive than you are obeying God’s word but if you chose not to forgive than you are going against God. We can not rely on our own understanding but we can rest assure that God’s word is the truth and all we need to do is trust and follow it entirely.
“Trust in The Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight” -Proverbs 3:5
The first step in the forgiving process is to learn to think of forgiveness in a different way this will help us to forgive whenever a situation presents itself. We have to keep our eyes on the the bigger picture. We need to forgive because it is what God says we must do. We forgive others not for the individual, but because we want to make God happy. When we forgive others, it is pleasing to God. He can look down and see that we are following His word, and He will protect us because we are His children. If we think of forgiveness as something that is required from us, than we are more likely to extend forgiveness and grace when it is needed. We must remember that forgiving is not an option, it is a requirement. Learning to forgive becomes easier and easier over time. Forgiveness takes patience and discipline but with the grace of God we are able to forgive even in the worse of times.
